Telefilm Canada has named five teams to its Comedy Lab program, putting their feature projects into a three-month mentoring and workshop process.
The high-definition spin-off of The Score has been picked up by Shaw Cable and Shaw Direct, extending the sports channel’s reach into Western Canada. The Score HD, which simulcasts the programming seen on the standard channel, is now available in 6.6 million households, according to parent Score Media. It is also carried by Bell TV, Rogers Cable, Eastlink and Videotron, among others.
Teletoon is allowing viewers to comment on, and vote for, 10 original pilots for potential development into series. The pilots, targeted at males 18 to 34, were commissioned as part of an effort to find new programming for the cable channel’s evening and nighttime lineup. They will run simultaneously on sympatico.ca and thedetour.ca for 10 weeks. The eleventh week will feature the pilot of a series already in development. The episodes will also be available through iTunes.
