The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has added eight members to the advisory committee for its inaugural content market, as well as given it an official name, TIFF: The Market.
Announced today at the Cannes Film Festival, TIFF: The Market will officially take place from September 10 to 16, 2026. Plans for the market were first announced last year at the 2024 edition of Cannes. TIFF had previously received a $23 million investment from the federal government to aid in launching the market.
The new members include Moses Babatope, CEO of Nigeria’s The Nile Media Entertainment Group; Michael Barker, president of Sony Pictures Classics; Arianna Bocco, head of global distribution at Mubi; and Janet Brown, BBC Studios president, global content sales.
Rounding out the new members are Colombian producer Diana Bustamante Escobar; Vicki Dobbs Beck, Lucasfilm VP, immersive content; Megabox CEO Jeongin Hong; and Blue Ant Studios executive producer Laura Michalchyshyn.
These additions join previously announced members including Elevation Pictures’ Noah Segal, Indigenous Screen Office CEO Kerry Swanson, Rhombus Media founder Niv Fichman and former SODEC president Monique Simard.
“We’re designing TIFF: The Market to meet the fast-changing needs of the global screen industries,” said TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey in a statement. “We plan to grow the power of screen storytellers by bringing dealmakers, talent and audiences together in a new, much bigger way.”
“[The committee members’] extensive global knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping us shape and deliver a best-in-class event that will support the industry of today and for the future,” added chief programming officer Anita Lee.
TIFF’s 50th edition will run September 4 to 14.
