For the second consecutive year, Workin’ Moms has received an International Emmy nomination from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The half-hour CBC comedy, produced by Catherine Reitman and Philip Sternberg’s Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment, was nominated in the best comedy category alongside Especial de Natal Porta dos Fundos (Brazil), FAM! (Singapore) and Kupa Rashit (Israel).

Workin’ Moms was nominated for its second season, which aired on CBC from January to March 2018.

The recognition comes during a strong year for the series. In January, Netflix acquired the show for worldwide distribution, branding it as a Netflix original series in the U.S. In May, CBC greenlit a fourth season of the show, which went to camera over the summer and is set to premiere next year.

Executive producers on season four include Reitman, Sternberg, Tina Horwitz and Joe Sorge. Writers on the new season include Reitman, Kathleen Phillips, Daniel Gold and Jillian Locke, who also serves as co-executive producer. The upcoming season sees Reitman and Sternberg direct alongside Joyce Wong.

Workin’ Moms is the only Canadian project nominated for this year’s International Emmys. Last year, in addition to Workin’ Moms, LoCo Motion Pictures’ digital series How to Buy a Baby and Riddle Films’ doc Dreaming of a Jewish Christmas also received nods, as well as actor Billy Campbell for his work in Cardinal.

The 2019 International Emmy Awards ceremony takes place on Nov. 25 at the Hilton Hotel in New York.
