Following a number of holdups, president Peter Apostolopoulos says construction on the 400,000-square-foot studio facility will begin next year.
The new facility would contribute an additional $40 million in production activity over the next three years and create 500 new jobs, according to the city’s film office.
New inventory is set to open this year, but producers and studio owners say a more comprehensive approach from the city is needed to secure business for the future.
The studio also announced updated plans for its 270,000 square-foot studio (renderings pictured) in Pickering, ON.
The studio has launched its program which gives a 50% studio rental discount to productions helmed by women. (Killjoys showrunner Michelle Lovretta pictured.)
TriBro has also announced a new initiative aimed at supporting female filmmakers and showrunners. (Updated)
