Readership poll results

Well, the industry seems to like it, even if the public hasn’t caught on. In response to a recent online Playback poll question asking which new summer series shows the most promise, an overwhelming 48% of respondents picked CBC’s What It’s Like Being Alone (which has averaged only 118,000 viewers so far). This was followed by CTV’s Whistler, with 23% of the vote, CTV’s Alice, I Think (13%), CBC’s North/South (11%) and CBC’s 11 Cameras (5%).

Berry back in B.C.

Vancouver – X-Men: The Last Stand’s Halle Berry will return to Vancouver forthe DreamWorks feature drama Things We Lost in the Fire, about a woman who loses her husband and opens her home to his best friend, beginning in mid-August. The film will also star another Academy Award winner, Benicio Del Toro (Traffic), and be directed by Susanne Bier (Open Hearts). Sam Mendes (Jarhead) and Sam Mercer (Lady in the Water) are producing, with writer Allan Loeb (21) among the executive producers. Shooting is scheduled to run into October.
