Blue Ant Media is tapping into demand for wildlife and nature programming in Nordic countries with the launch of Love Nature on pan-Nordic PayTV and streaming platform Allente.
Under the deal, Love Nature, which has linear and streaming channels available in more than 145 countries, will reach Allente audiences across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and make its debut in the Finnish market, according to a news release.
Love Nature will be localized for each market and viewers will have access to its programming on the linear channel as well as the platform’s Video on demand (VOD) service, added the release.
Chiara McKee, Love Nature’s VP, EMEA, said the deal marked “a significant milestone for Love Nature’s growth in Europe.”
Blue Ant’s wildlife and nature brand, which is headquartered in Washington D.C. and has offices in Toronto, Los Angeles and London, has been growing its presence in Europe over the last few years.
In 2018, it launched in Switzerland (Swisscom) and the Netherlands (KPN), and the following year it signed a multi-year agreement with pay-TV operator Sky in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy, and expanded its presence in Slovakia in 2020.
In 2022, it expanded its partnership with Prime Video Channels to make its programming available on Prime Video in Spain, France and the Netherlands.
Love Nature programming highlights on Allente include Under its Gladiators (4 x 60 minutes) which depicts the animal kingdom’s greatest rivalries; Deep Dive Australia (3 x 60 minutes; pictured), featuring TV personality and wildlife biologist, Lizzie Daly, who takes audiences on a road trip across Australia; and Deep in the Heart, a one-hour special which celebrates the landscapes and wildlife of Texas and is narrated by Texas-born actor Matthew McConaughey.
