Montreal prodco and distributor Attraction announces three key promotions

Nicole Hamilton becomes EVP, unscripted English content; Joey Case moves into VP, English factual content; and Lesley Jacobi is now director of development, English unscripted content.

M ontreal-based media company Attraction has announced three key promotions to bolster the executive lineup as the company touts recent successes “with much more to come.”

The prodco and distributor says Nicole Hamilton (pictured left) is now the EVP, unscripted English content, based in Toronto; Joey Case (pictured middle) moves into the role of VP, English factual content, also based in Toronto; and Lesley Jacobi (pictured right) is the director of development, English unscripted content, working from Montreal.

Case and Jacobi report to Hamilton, who reports to Richard Speer, president of Attraction.

Hamilton was previously VP, English content at Attraction. She joined the company in 2020 and has been tasked with expanding its English-language unscripted development and production. New commissions under her tenure include the critically lauded series Underground Railroad: The Secret History, the recently launched buzzy series Crime Scene Confidential and Impossible Repairs.

Hamilton also works closely with the French content team to expand Attraction’s children’s and youth programming. A producer and broadcast executive for more than 15 years, she’s overseen the production and development of over 75 original series, including Say Yes to the Dress Canada, Oh Yum with Anna Olson and Inside the Box with Ty Pennington.

Case, who has been promoted from head of English factual content, has spearheaded Underground Railroad: The Secret History, Impossible Repairs and Test Dummy Science. Case will now lead the creative strategy and operations for science/factual programming to continue Attraction’s expanded business within North American markets. Case’s previous experience includes head of development for former Discovery Canada in-house prodco Exploration Production Inc., overseeing the documentary series Mighty Trains (seasons two and three) and Mighty Planes (season four). Case has also been a showrunner, writer, and director for series at DreamWorks, AwesomenessTV, Discovery Canada, Animal Planet, NBC, C-BBC and Syfy.

Jacobi’s previous role at Attraction was casting director, English unscripted content, playing an integral role in the development of Crime Scene Confidential. In her new role, she will be responsible for expanding Attraction’s true crime slate. Jacobi has story-produced several projects for channels including HGTV, Food Network and TVOKids, and developed series for Investigation Discovery, Science Channel, Reelz and A&E Networks.

In January, producer Ian Whitehead, former head of production at Incendo, joined Attraction as VP of English scripted content. Speer said at the time that the company planned to consolidate its position in the English-speaking market, both in Canada and around the world over the coming years.

“Attraction’s stellar slate of programming is a testament of the wonderful team we have working behind-the-scenes,” Speer said in a statement issued Wednesday (March 9). “This talented group along with their leadership have only begun to scratch the surface. I am excited about what has already been achieved, and I am looking forward to seeing where they will take us next.”
