U.S. TV net Nick Jr. has picked up the exclusive TV broadcast rights to the second season of preschool series Teletubbies. Produced by DHX Media and U.K. production company Darrall Macqueen, the 30-episode second season will begin airing on Nick Jr. in 2017. The first season of the rebooted series premiered in Canada on DHX’s Family Jr. in January in 2016, after it bowed on U.K. channel CBeebies the previous November. Nick Jr. reaches approximately 73 million households in the U.S. via cable, digital cable and satellite TV, according to a press release announcing the deal.

PNP
Boutique distributor Pacific Northwest Pictures (PNP) has acquired the Canadian theatrical distribution rights to Hannes Holm-directed feature film A Man Called Ove. Under the deal, Vancouver-based PNP will handle the sale of the film’s transactional VOD rights in Canada, in addition to the theatrical release. Meanwhile, Chicago-based indie distributor Music Box Films will handle the release of the film on SVOD platforms in Canada. A Man Called Ove, based on a bestselling novel by Swedish author Fredrik Backman, has been shortlisted for Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Makeup and Hairstyling category. Produced by Annica Bellander and Nicklas Wikström for Swedish prodco Tre Vänner, the film tells the story of a widower who has all but given up on the world until a new family moves in and he forms an unexpected friendship.
