Blue Ant International sets largest MIPCOM lineup to date

The slate includes new documentaries on King Charles III and Canadian factual and scripted titles such as Loons: A Cry From the Mist and Baroness von Sketch Show.

Blue Ant International will give Cannes the royal treatment this year with a sales slate of more than 1,100 hours of scripted and unscripted content at MIPCOM next month, including new titles around the recently crowned King Charles III.

The Blue Ant Media distribution arm will bring two new documentaries about the monarch for pre-sale at the Oct. 17 to 20 market, including the 60-minute special Born To Be King (working title) from the U.K.’s Touchdown Films and King Charles’ Grand Design. The previously announced Blue Ant Studios doc Prince Andrew: Banished is also part of the royal lineup.

The bolstered sales catalogue is the Blue Ant Media distribution arm’s “largest offering ever,” according to a news release, due to the company’s acquisition of Drive Media Rights earlier this year.

Featured Canadian documentaries in the lineup include the Love Nature original Loons: A Cry From the Mist (1 x 60 minutes; Yap Films); the 60-minute documentary Cracked: The Perplexing World of Egg Donation (Catapult Pictures, Dreaming Bird Productions), about the ethics and economics of egg donation; and Framing Agnes (1 x 90 minutes; Fae Pictures), which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won both the NEXT innovator and audience awards.

Additional domestic factual titles on the slate include the CBC docuseries Anyone’s Game (6 x 30 minutes; BestCrosses Studios, Game Seven Media), about an elite basketball prep school in Orangeville, Ont.; and season two of factual lifestyle series Flat Out Food (5 x 30 minutes; Halter Media), featuring food activist Jenn Sharp taking food from the farm to the table.

Rounding out the Canadian titles are all five seasons of the CBC sketch series Baroness von Sketch Show (46 x 30 minutes; Frantic Films) and season one of the Roku original animated series Doomlands (10 x 15 minutes), produced by the Blue Ant-owned animation studio Look Mom! Productions.

Blue Ant International EVP Solange Attwood said the volume of content coming to MIPCOM demonstrates their ability to create “customized content solutions for the diverse needs of our platform partners, from linear, streaming to multi-platform,” in a statement.
