A muz Distribution has acquired a number of titles to pack its MIPCOM sales slate, including the Omni Television sketch comedy series Abroad (pictured).
The ComediHa! distribution arm will bring more than 1,300 hours of programming across multiple genres to this year’s MIPCOM, bolstered by the company’s recent acquisition of the Just for Laughs Group.
The latest slate of acquisitions for the Quebec City-based company include 375 x 30 minutes of Just for Laughs’ JFL – Gags, as well as three seasons of Longhope Media’s Abroad (26 x 30 minutes), a sketch comedy show featuring Filipino comedians.
Also included are two seasons of the 8 x 20-minute Passez Go-produced Like Father, Like Daughter, which follows the titular duo’s adventures in the Montreal neighbourhood Rosemont–Petite-Patrie; and six seasons of C’est même pas drôle’s animated comedy Babyatrice (25 x 30 minutes) about a self-proclaimed “queen of the castle.”
Amuz will also bring Ricardo Trogi’s latest feature, 1995 (Sphere Media), to MIPCOM. The autobiographical film has earned more than $2.5 million in the Quebec box office since it’s release on July 31.
Also new to the MIPCOM slate is the 12 x 30-minute ComediHa! dramedy Marco, about a former rockstar.
Amuz will be bringing its current series to MIPCOM as well, starting with two seasons of the ComediHa! dramedy About Antoine (20 x 30 minutes), about life with a poly-handicapped child.
Next is Avenue Productions’ dramedy Larry (10 x 60 minutes), which focuses on a former undercover cop who is now a security guard with an injured wife.
The MIPCOM roster also includes two shows from Productions Casablanca: Two seasons of The Clan (12 x 60 minutes), a dramedy about a former criminal now living in witness protection; and the comedy Writer’s Block (22 x 60 minutes), about two showrunners on a crime series who attempt actual criminal experiences.
Last is ComedyHa!’s non-verbal sketch series LOL ; ) (154 x 30 minutes).
