Shaw Media’s Slice has picked up docu-series Après Ski (8 x 60 minutes) from Tricon Films & Television. The series was also acquired by Bell Media’s French-language channel Vrak.
Executive produced by Andrea Gorfolova, Jeff Hevert, Jameel Bharmal, and Kevin Lee, the show is coproduced by Tricon with Bravo Media. The first episode of the series was also made available on Slice.ca, ahead of the show’s broadcast premiere in Canada. In March it was announced that the series had been greenlit by Bravo Media in the U.S.
Après Ski is set in ski resort in Whistler and follows the lives of the staff of a premium concierge company as they attempt to cater to their demanding clientele.
In other Tricon news this week, Rhombus Media’s Sensitive Skin is officially out in the U.S., via an iTunes release strategy helmed by the film and TV distributor. Read more about the deal here.
In other deals announced this week, DHX Media has secured seven international broadcast and VOD deals for its 52 x 11-minute animated comedy Endangered Species and marked its continued growth into China’s streaming market with two new non-exclusive content deals. Elevation Pictures has inked an agreement with Toronto-based indie distributor ABMO Films to distribute ABMO’s slate through a multi-year output deal. Read more about the deal here. And Discovery Canada’s first original scripted series Frontier will land on Netflix Canada 18 months after the show, which is produced by Take the Shot Productions and Factory Backwards, premieres on Discovery.
