Stéphane Cardin to depart Netflix Canada public policy role

EXCLUSIVE: The streamer's director of public policy for Canada will leave his role on July 5 after nearly six years.

Netflix’s director of public policy for Canada, Stéphane Cardin (pictured, left), is set to depart his post after nearly six years.

Cardin, who was appointed to the role in 2018, will leave the streamer on July 5, a spokesperson for the company told Playback Daily.

Ruchi Bhowmik (pictured, right), VP, public policy, U.S. and Canada, will step into the role in the interim as the company conducts a search for a new public policy director for Canada.

Cardin joined Netflix from the Canada Media Fund (CMF), where he served for 12 years and was responsible for liaising with industry stakeholders and heading up the development of the funder’s policies and programs.

“I appreciate Stéphane’s keen industry insights and everything that he’s contributed to Netflix Canada over the years. I wish him all the best on his next steps.”
