Production begins this month on Family Feud Canada, CBC’s localized version of the U.S. game show.
The pubcaster commissioned the 60 x 30-minute unscripted series as part of a partnership with London-based global prodco and distributor Fremantle.
The series was first announced at CBC’s upfront presentation in May, with CBC pointing out opportunities for brand integration and sponsorships. Family Feud Canada, like the American original, will see families from across the country competing to guess the most popular answers to family-friendly survey questions for cash prizes.
The series will premiere Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service. The show will then move to its regular time slot of 7:30 p.m. beginning Dec. 23.
Family Feud Canada is hosted by Gerry Dee (pictured) and produced by Zone3, based on the original Fremantle format, in association with CBC. Isabelle Roy and Jeffrey Wraight serve as executive producers, with co-executive producer Tracie Tighe. Wraight also serves as supervising producer.
Fremantle will distribute the series globally. Michela Di Mondo, SVP for Canada and international at Fremantle, brokered the deal with CBC.
