Every month when I open my Rogers bill, I’m reminded of the Monty Python ‘Blackmail’ sketch.

– In a surprise move, Toronto’s CORE Digital Pictures has closed its doors, with the apparent loss of around 150 jobs at the ambitious visual effects and animation house that William Shatner built. Shatner launched CORE in 1994 along with Bob Munroe, John Mariella and Kyle Menzies.
Polytechnique, the powerful drama about the 1989 Montreal massacre, leads a pack of little-known titles at the 30th annual Genie Awards, with the contentious yet acclaimed film scoring 11 nominations, including best picture.
