The CBC comedy pilot The Khouris from DHX Media is to shoot in Halifax in October, with Rizwan Manji in the lead role.
Manji is coming off a role as an ambitious assistant manager in the cancelled NBC series Outsourced.
He will play the role of Dr. Bob Khouri, a right wing father and head of an immigrant Canadian family in the sitcom pilot from Los Angeles-based screenwriter Tim McAuliffe.
Also set to shoot in Halifax is another homegrown comedy pilot, Seed, created by Joseph Raso and produced by Force Four Entertainment for Citytv.
And Entertainment One and U.K. partner Greenroom Entertainment are shooting the 10-part cop drama Rogue, which stars Thandie Newton, in Vancouver for DirecTV, TMN and Movie Central.
