Netflix has picked up the global rights to Gideon Raff’s (pictured) The Red Sea Diving Resort.

The project is a Canada/U.S. production from B.C.-based Bron Studios, EMJAG and G. Raff Productions, in association with Toronto’s Creative Wealth Media. Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert (pictured), EMJAG’s Alexandra Milchan and director Gideon Raff produced the project. It is based on a real rescue mission in the early 1980s when a spy agency was ordered to help thousands of Jewish refugees from Ethiopia journey through Sudan to Israel.

This is Bron’s second streaming deal with Netflix within the last four months. The company also picked up the global rights to the animated feature The Willoughbys, which will be released in 2020. The deal for The Red Sea Diving Resort is for all territories where Netflix is available, excluding China. It is set to be released some time in 2019.

The Red Sea Diving Resort stars Chris Evans (The Avengers), Haley Bennett (The Girl on the Train), Michael Kenneth Williams (Assassin’s Creed), Michiel Huisman (The Haunting of Hill House), Greg Kinnear,  Ben Kingsley, and Alessandro Nivola (You Were Never Really Here).
