Super Channel’s parent company Allarco has received an extension on its creditor protection.

On Nov. 1, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, Judicial Centre of Edmonton extended Allarco’s stay of proceedings until Feb. 28, 2018.

Allarco has been under creditor protection since May 2016, when the company was granted an initial 30-day period of protection. At the time, Allarco cited the increasing costs of programming as a primary reason for its filing.

Since then, the company has had its stay of proceedings extended on a number of occasions.

At the time of its initial filing, the company was locked into 135 program licence agreements (including New Metric Media’s What Would Sal Do?, Nomadic Pictures’ Van Helsing and Incendo’s France/Canada copro Versailles), of which at least 96 were subsequently disclaimed. The Court also ordered that any creditor who wants to file a claim against Allarco for failing to warn that an agreement with the company could be disclaimed, has until Dec. 1 to do so.
