Toronto’s Raven Banner Entertainment has acquired the Canadian rights to Mission To Lars, a U.K. documentary directed by William Spicer and James Moore. The film, which charts the journey of Kate and William Spicer as they try to fulfil their autistic brother’s lifelong ambition of meeting Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, will open theatrically on Oct. 1 and have week-long runs at Toronto’s Cineplex/Yonge Dundas and Halifax’s Cineplex Park Lane, as well as a limited engagement at Ottawa’s Mayfair Theatre.
Corus Entertainment
Corus Entertainment has acquired Canadian closed-captioning company FastFile Media Services in order to bolster its technology service offerings. As part of the new business unit, the media co has launched Quay Media Services, a division charged with leading its linear TV broadcast, signal origination and master control play out and delivery, production facilities, media asset management and encoding/transcoding for both domestic and international customers, as well as closed captioning, described video and subtitling.
Distribution360
Marblemedia’s Distribution360 has inked a distribution deal with CBC that will see the company represent more than 50 documentary and factual titles from the pubcaster, including programming from the fifth estate and The Nature of Things. Read more about the deal here.

9 Story Media has licensed more than 183 half hours of its programming to Discovery Kids Latin America. Season two of Peg + Cat, seasons three and four of Wild Kratts will air across all of Discovery Kids’ Latin networks.
DHX Media
China’s newest SVOD service, Tmall Box Office (TBO), launched by the Alibaba Group in early September, has secured more than 2,500 half-hours of programming for children and families following a deal inked with DHX Media. Read more about the story here.
