Crave’s Letterkenny to end with 12th season

The final six episodes of the New Metric Media comedy will premiere on Dec. 25.

The hit Crave comedy Letterkenny will end its run with its 12th season.

Bell Media announced Thursday (Nov. 2) that the final six episodes of the long-running series will premiere on Crave on Dec. 25.

Letterkenny is created by star, executive producer and co-writer Jared Keeso, and is produced by Toronto’s New Metric Media in association with Play Fun Games. Jacob Tierney is the series director, as well as co-writer and executive producer.

The series’ spinoff Shoresy, also created by and starring Keeso, was recently renewed by Crave for a third season.

“We always knew this day would come. When we first started on this in 2013 with Crave, we were just excited about shooting six episodes and always dreamed for more,” said Mark Montefiore, president of New Metric Media, in a statement to Playback Daily. “But 81 episodes over 12 seasons, plus three seasons of a spinoff, and over 100 live shows and the best fans anyone could ever ask for across the globe, while working with this country’s top comedic geniuses and amazing partners along the way??!?! I’m gonna get myself a Puppers and let this marinate.”

Letterkenny premiered on Crave in February 2016 as the streamer’s first original series, and proved to be a critical and commercial hit. The series picked up momentum when it was acquired by Hulu in the U.S., where it will also make its final bow at the end of the year.

Letterkenny is a pop culture, Canadian TV phenomenon, and while we’re sad to see Wayne and his buds leave our screens, we’re excited that the laughs and ass-kicking live on with Crave fan-favourite, Shoresy,” said Justin Stockman, Bell Media’s VP, content development and programming, in a statement.
