Toronto-based New Metric Media has expanded into podcast and standup comedy content with a new division.
Effective January 2025, SiriusXM executive Ben Miner (pictured) will join New Metric as VP, standup and podcasts, reporting to founder and CEO Mark Montefiore.
He will lead the development and programming of live standup opportunities while working with comedians to produce audio and video content for planned direct-to-consumer channels from New Metric. More specifics on the those channels will be announced in the future, a New Metric spokesperson told Playback Daily.
Miner will also support New Metric’s new digital studio operations at its Toronto headquarters.
With nearly 20 years of broadcasting experience, Miner currently serves as SiriusXM’s manager of comedy, sci-fi and gaming. He is also a former member and chair of the Juno Awards committee for Comedy Album of the Year.
“With Ben’s passion for comedy and extensive experience in broadcasting and content development, we’re well-positioned to expand New Metric Media’s work with comedic talent globally and establish a strong presence across all parts of the comedy ecosystem,” said Montefiore in a statement. “Ben’s leadership will be key as we bring new voices and unique comedy content to audiences everywhere.”
