Crave orders second season of Montreal Canadiens docuseries

The series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Montreal Canadiens during their NHL seasons.

Crave has greenlit a second season of its original docuseries The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens.

Season two will follow the Montreal hockey team through its 2024-25 season and witness the team’s growth as new players and young talent join the roster. The series is produced by Montreal-based prodco Fair-Play in collaboration with Bell Media.

The initial 8 x 60-minute season of the bilingual series released on Crave in September. The docuseries is Crave’s No. 1 original factual series in Quebec since Crave became a bilingual TV and streaming service in 2020, according to Bell Media, citing data from Adobe Analytics and mParticle.

The first season followed the Bleu Blanc Rouge’s 2023-24 season. The English-language version of season one is narrated by Canadian media personality George Stroumboulopoulos while the French version is narrated by Quebec actor Marc-André Grondin (C.R.A.Z.Y.). All eight episodes were directed by André St-Pierre.

The first season will make its linear TV debut on RDS beginning Nov. 29 and on TSN beginning Nov. 30.

The series was originally announced as part of Bell Media’s 2024-25 slate earlier in June. Other unscripted series included in the lineup alongside The Rebuild were Slaycation (Blue Ant Media), Mark McKinney Needs a Hobby (Sphere Media) and Drag Brunch Saved My Life (Sphere Media).
