M ontreal-based prodco and distributor Incendo and FOX Entertainment-owned, ad-supported streamer Tubi are laying down more track for Terror Train.
The companies have announced a sequel to their Montreal-shot Terror Train film, a Tubi original produced by Graham Ludlow and Kaleigh Kavanagh as a remake of the 1980 Canada-U.S. copro cult classic.
Terror Train 2 (pictured) marks the second film in the franchise and will premiere Dec. 31, exclusively in the U.S. on Tubi and on Bell Media’s Crave in Canada, according to a news release. Incendo has global distribution rights, with Tubi as the commissioning U.S. licensee.
This is Tubi’s first-ever horror sequel and expands on the franchise with an original storyline about a new menace aboard a train on New Year’s Eve, said Adam Lewinson, chief content officer at Tubi, in a statement. The cast includes Robyn Alomar and Tim Rozon.
The first Terror Train remake, commissioned by Tubi earlier this year, premiered in October with long-time Incendo collaborator Philippe Gagnon as director, and Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin as the screenwriters. It saw a killer targeting college seniors on a Halloween-themed “party train.”
The sequel has the same creative team of writers Carpenter and Martin, director Gagnon, and producers Ludlow and Kavanagh. Executive producers are Ludlow, Shari Segal, and Brook Peters.
Incendo and Tubi also have also partnered on two other horror films in various stages of production: Marry F*** Kill, an original film produced by Ludlow and Kavanagh, and written by Carpenter and Martin; and The Amityville Curse, an adaptation of Hans Holzer’s novel, also produced by Ludlow and Kaleigh Kavanagh, and penned by Dennis Heaton. The companies are also developing two comedy films together.
