L.A.-based Fifth Season has inked a strategic partnership with Vancouver prodco Front Street Pictures for the international rights to its MOWs.
The partnership also extends Fifth Season’s relationship with Toronto-based Blink49 Studios, which acquired a majority stake in Front Street in 2023.
Front Street’s TV movie slate includes Christmas, romance, mystery, action and horror titles produced for networks such as Hallmark, Lifetime and Tubi. The company has produced more than 300 movies since its inception, according to a news release.
Among the initial titles repped by Fifth Season are rom-com trilogy The Groomsmen, the first of which began streaming on Hallmark+ in the U.S. on Oct. 17; Family Affair, executive produced by Mary J. Blige and inspired by her song of the same name, set to premiere on Lifetime in 2025; and Scouting For Christmas, starring Tamera Mowry-Housley (pictured), released on Hallmark on Oct. 20.
“Coming on board to represent Front Street Pictures’ leading TV movie slate is a natural extension of our strong partnership with Blink49,” said Prentiss Fraser, Fifth Season’s president of television distribution, in a statement.
“Front Street Pictures are an ideal partner for us to build out this new vertical for the television distribution business and, with confirmed volume, allows us to secure long-term partnerships with broadcasters and platforms internationally,” she continued.
One of Blink49’s key initiatives with its Front Street investment has been developing “a robust international distribution strategy for MOW content,” added Blink49 CCO Nelson Kuo-Lee.
In October, Fifth Season also picked up Canadian rights to Roku’s unscripted originals, part of an extension of its existing partnership with the company.
