Tubi has greenlit a sequel to its original film Sidelined: The QB and Me from Vancouver-based Thunderbird Entertainment’s Great Pacific Media and Wattpad Webtoon Studios.

Stars Noah Beck and Siena Agudong are set to reprise their roles in the sequel, with Toronto-based director Justin Wu returning. The sequel will follow Beck and Agudong’s characters as their relationship faces new challenges thanks to long-distance and self-discovery. The first film also starred James Van Der Beek, Victoria-born Drew Ray Tanner and Toronto-based Deborah Cox.

The Sidelined sequel will be produced by McKenna Marshall, Adam Wescott, Maxwell Mitcheson, Jason Fischer, GPM’s Lindsay Macadam and Wattpad Webtoon’s Aron Levitz, David Madden and Jason Goldberg.

James Hunstman, Lisa Gutberlet, Kalani Dreimanis are executive producing for Blue Fox, and David Way, Tony Chung and Lori Massini are executive producing for Great Pacific Media alongside Beck, Agudong, original co-writer Crystal Ferreiro and Wu.

Based on the Wattpad novel The QB Bad Boy and Me by Tay Marley, the first film was Tubi’s No. 1 movie in Canada on the Fox-owned streamer following its release on Nov. 29, 2024. According to a release from Blue Fox, the film accounted for the the most viewers of any title on Tubi in its first seven days.

“At Tubi, we listen to our viewers, and their overwhelming response to Sidelined: The QB and Me made putting a sequel into play an easy decision to give our audiences more of what they love,” said Tubi’s chief content officer Adam Lewinson in a statement.
