Canadians once again raced to their screens to watch The Amazing Race Canada, which returned to the top of the national TV chart after being absent from the schedule for a week.
The competition series (pictured), produced by Boat Rocker’s Insight Productions, led the top 30 national chart for the period of Aug. 8 to 14, according to Numeris. After not airing the previous week, 1.603 million viewers tuned into to CTV for the period for the new episode – an increase from the preceding viewership of 1.405 million during the final week of July, when the hit series led conventional and specialty network programming.
Departure had a small dip in ratings for the period, coming in at No. 13 compared to its No. 10 spot the previous week. Coproduced by Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures, the suspense drama had 711,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, CBC’s SkyMed (Piazza Entertainment) landed at No. 27 with 462,000 viewers – an increase from the previous week’s 456,000 viewers.
Rounding out the top five on the national list: CTV evening news at No. 2 with 1.253 million viewers; NBC’s America’s Got Talent at No. 3 with 1.069 million viewers on CTV; and CBS’ Big Brother at No. 4 and No. 5 with one million viewers and 979,000 viewers, respectively, on Global.
The French-language dub of ABC’s The Rookie, La recrue, and La Roue de Fortune chez vous both led the Quebec francophone list with 608,000 viewers on TVA, while Sucré Salé hosted by Patrice Belanger came in at No. 3 with 575,000 viewers on TVA.
