Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) announced Thursday that Paul Feig (left) and Sarah Barnett (right) will join its Summit Series lineup for 2019.
Feig has been involved in creating, producing and directing some of the best-known films and TV properties of the past two decades. He is the creator of Freaks and Geeks (NBC) and was nominated for an Academy Award for his directorial work on Bridesmaids in 2012. In addition, he has directed episodes of The Office (which he also executive produced), Arrested Development, Mad Men and Parks and Recreation. He is also a producer on the upcoming comedy series American Princess, directed by Canadian filmmaker Stella Meghie.
Barnett meanwhile is the president of entertainment networks at AMC Networks, where she oversees AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV and AMC Premiere. Previously she was president and GM at BBC America, where she oversaw a programming slate including Sandra Oh-starrer Killing Eve and the Temple Street-produced sci-fi drama Orphan Black.
2019 marks the inaugural year for BANFF’s Summit Series, which is a featured programming stream celebrating the festival’s 40th anniversary. Other participants in the Summit Series include media mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg and PBS president and CEO Paula A. Kerger.
This year’s BANFF runs from June 9 to 12.
