Production is underway in St. John’s, N.L. on writer Emily Bridger’s first feature film script, Little Orphans.
Produced by Imagine That Productions and exec produced by Little Dog showrunner and Maudie writer Sherry White, the family drama is part of the Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch program.
The feature follows a woman who returns home for her sister’s wedding, where she is forced to deal with all of the issues that made her leave. The drama is directed by Ruth Lawrence and produced by Jenny Hawley.
Little Orphans is the only 2018 Talent to Watch project representing Newfoundland and Labrador and was submitted to the program by the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival as an official selection. Bridger’s Little Orphans script was also workshopped in the Whistler Film Festival’s Praxis Screenwriter Lab in 2017.
Little Orphans stars Bridger, Marthe Bernard and Rhiannon Morgan. The feature also received funding from the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NLFDC), ArtsNL and the City of St. John’s.
