Spotlight Pictures takes worldwide sales rights to The Unseen

The L.A.-based sales agent will shop Geoff Redknap's debut film at the upcoming American Film Market.

L.A.-based sales agent Spotlight Pictures has acquired worldwide sales rights, excluding Canada, for the sci-fi horror The Unseen.

The Unseen is the first feature written and directed by special makeup effects artist Geoff Redknap (The X-Files, Deadpool). The film, which premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal this past July, follows a man, who is battling against two issues: one) that his daughter has gone missing and two) that he is slowly going invisible.

The film is produced by Goonworks Films’ Katie Weekley, with the participation of Telefilm Canada. The Unseen received $300,000 in financing through Telefilm’s Canada Feature Film Fund last year.

The Unseen stars Aden Young (who will star in the upcoming CTV original The Disappearance), Camille Sullivan (The Birdwatcher) and Aftermath‘s Julia Sarah Stone. It will have its L.A. premiere at Screamfest on Oct. 25 and be presented to buyers at the American Film Market in Santa Monica in November.

This is the second Canadian film Spotlight has acquired in as many months. Last September, it picked up the international sales rights to Jeff Kopas’ The Hivewhich will also be shopped at AFM next month.

The deal for The Unseen was negotiated between Weekley and Carlos Rincon, head of acquisitions at Spotlight Pictures.
