Deals: Tricon, Picture Box, ole, eOne

Tricon Films and Television has sold more than 280 hours of lifestyle programming, including Sports Gone Wild (pictured), and more deals of the week.

Tricon Films and Television has sold more than 280 hours of programming from its lifestyle slate, including series Sports Gone WildWhaddyado and Stop Over. Sport blooper series Sports Gone Wild (26 x 30 minutes) was picked up by Saudi Airlines, Digicast Italy and Sony Africa, with Sony Africa also acquiring The Lighter Side of Sports (46 x 30 minutes) and Whaddyado (49 x 30 minutes). Swiss Air, Saudi Airlines, Cathay Pacific and British Airways also all picked up travel show Awesome Adventures (90 x 30 minutes). Cathay Pacific and British Airways also bought Stop Over (6 x 30 minutes) as well. Elsewhere, YES in Canada took home design series Divine Design with Candice Olson (208 x 30 minutes, 5 x 1-hour specials) and Zoo Clues (52 x 30 minutes) season two was sold to TVB Hong Kong and AB Groupe France/Africa/Turkey. Extreme Collectors (14 x 30 minutes) was picked up by Globosat Brazil, and Saudi Airlines acquired Dining Invasion (13 x 30 minutes). Danielle Bryk’s interior design series A Bryk at a Time was also acquired by HRT Croatia and Home Channel Africa, with the latter also taking interior makeover series The Expandables (28 x 30 minutes).

eOne
Entertainment One has appointed Endemol Shine Brazil to manage the licensing, website and social media development of its teen lifestyle brand SO SO Happy in Brazil. The two companies recently started to promote SO SO Happy on social media networks in Brazil, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, to build up brand awareness in the market. In other eOne news this week, Russian kidcaster Carousel has snapped up the rights to preschool series Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom. eOne also appointed  local agent Megalicense to manage the consumer products program for the brand throughout Russia and the Ukraine. BBC Worldwide Canada
BBC Worldwide Canada has sold the documentary Daft Punk Unchained to Sundance Channel Global, to air on the Sundance Channel in Canada. The doc looks at the careers of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and includes rare footage as well as interviews some of their collaborators including Pharrell Williams, Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers. The hour-long doc is written by Hervé Martin Delpierre and Marina Rozenman, directed by Delpierre, produced by Jean-Louis Blot and Patrice Gellé, and distributed and produced by BBC Worldwide. The air date for Unchained has not yet been announced.

ole
Independent rights management company ole has expanded its administration and audio/video deal with Toronto-based kids prodco Sinking Ship Entertainment. Under the new deal, ole will now handle administration of Sinking Ship’s audio masters, which includes sync representation and neighboring rights/SoundExchange royalties. As well, Sinking Ship will be able to access the existing library of ole’s production music division Jingle Punks. ole also handles music publishing administration and audio/video secondary rights for Sinking Ship.

Picture Box Distribution
Picture Box Distribution has sold Anäid Productions’ docu-series The Liquidator (91 x 30 minutes) to Sport1 in Germany, RMC Decoverte in France and A&E Networks Latin America. The show was originally commissioned by Rogers of OLN in Canada, and was previously sold to Discovery Networks for a number of territories in Europe, including Italy, the U.K., Benelux, the Middle East and Africa.

Temple Street Distribution
Temple Street Distribution has picked up Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate, an animated children’s series from Radical Sheep Productions, Mickey Rogers Media and Kids’ CBC. The series is the division’s first third-party pickup. Read more about the deal here.

Canadian SVOD Kidoodle.TV is set to expand its global footprint via a new distribution deal between its owner A Parent Media Co. and Caribbean-based communications provider Digicel Play. Read more about the deal here.
