Telefilm invests $11.7M across 13 French features

Projects selected to receive funding in this latest round include Chloe Robichaud's Pays and Patrice Sauve's Ca sent la coupe.

Telefilm Canada has invested $11.7 million across 13 French-language features through its Canada Feature Film Fund, including projects from Chloe Robichaud and Patrice Sauve.

Films in the pre-production stage selected to receive funding include Sauve’s Ca sent la coupe, David Uloth’s Derive, Patrick Demers Origami, Samuel Matteau’s Squat and Fulvio Bernasconi’s Misericorde, a minority Canada-Swizterland coproduction. Ca sent la coupe received $1.2 million in funding, Derive $400,000, Origami $425,000, Squat $325,000 and Misericorde $125,000

Ca sent la coupe is produced by Les Films Outsiders and will be distributed by Les Films Seville. Derive is produced by Productions l’Unite centrale and with Axia Films to distribute. Origami is produced by Les Productions Kinesis with Filmoption International to distribute. Misericorde is produced by 1976 Productions and Point Prod Fiction, with Filmoption International attached to distribute. Squat is produced by Velocite Productions and will be distributed by K-Films Amerique.

Robichaud’s Pays was among the in-production films that picked up coin, along with Anne Emond’s Nelly, Emile Gaudreault’s Pere fils therapie, Jean-Francois Laguionie’s Louise en hiver (a minority Canada-France coproduction), Benoit Pilon’s Iqaluit and Jean-Francois Pouliot‘s Les 3 p’tits couchons 2. Pays picked up $1.2 million in Telefilm coin. Nelly received $1.45 million, while Pere fils therapie picked up nearly $1.2 million. Louise en hiver was backed by a $350,000 investment. Les 3 p’tits cochons received $2.2 million.

Pays is produced by La Boite a Fanny and Item 7, with Les Films Seville to distribute. Nelly is produced by Go Films and will be distributed by Les Films Seville, while Pere fils therapie is produced by Cinemaginaire and Incognita Films. Les Films Seville will also distribute that film. Louise en hiver is produced by Productions l’Unite centrale and JPL Films, with Axia Films distributing.

Finally, Telefilm supported two films currently in post-production: Andre Forcier’s Embrasse-moi comme tu m’aimes and Flavia Coste’s Un jour mon prince, a minority Canada-France coproduction. Embrasse-moi comme tu m’aimes received $1.06 million in funding, while  Un jour mon prince picked up $235,00 in financing. 

Embrasse-moi comme tu m’aimes is produced by Les Films du Paria and will be released by Filmoption International, while Un jour mon prince is produced by Christal Films Productions and MACT Productions, with Les Films Christal set to release the film.
