Chris Harris moves to CBC as digital scripted exec

The Ceeb hires the former Secret Location VP to head up digital scripted content under Paul McGrath.

The CBC is continuing to expand its digital prowess with the hire of former Secret Location VP Chris Harris.

Harris joins the pubcaster as executive producer digital, scripted, reporting to Paul McGrath, director of digital content.

The move actually marks a return to CBC for Harris, who worked there from 1999 to 2006 as an associate producer and writer. He also worked at Shaw Media, where was head of social media. At Secret Location, which he joined in 2013, Harris was VP of strategy and business development.

The seeds of CBC’s digital-first strategy have started to bear fruit this year with several new initiatives, including a pact with Fullscreen to launch the CBC|Fullscreen Creator Network MCN, the continuing build-out of Punchline, its digital content portal and now, the hiring of Harris on the digital scripted side.

On the linear side, the Ceeb announced the hire of Tara Ellis in the first week of October; Ellis formerly led scripted drama at Shaw Media until the company restructured earlier this year. Like Harris, Ellis also worked at the CBC earlier in her career.
