CBC has brought on board Tara Ellis as executive director, scripted content. The move reunites Ellis with the pubcaster, where she spent six years working as executive in charge of production.
In her role, she’ll lead CBC’s scripted content teams to develop comedy, drama, kids and digital original programming, according to a release.
Most recently, Ellis served as senior director of original drama content over at Shaw Media, where she helped oversee scripted drama and comedy programming for Global, Showcase and History channel. In her role, she oversaw Global hits, including Rookie Blue, Bomb Girls, and Remedy. Prior to Shaw, Ellis acted as VP, showcase and drama content at the now defunct CanWest (which was sold to Shaw in 2010) and VP content, Showcase at Alliance Atlantis (which was acquired by CanWest in 2007), bringing her total time at that company to 15 years.
