Something about those Newfoundland actors.

Shawn Doyle is to star in Endgame, a Canadian crime from Thunderbird Films and Front Street Pictures for Showcase.

The Canadian actor most recently starred in Big Love stateside, and appeared in one episode of Republic of Doyle, which is shot in Newfoundland.

Doyle will play a Russian chess master who uses his skills of perception and strategic thinking to solve crimes.

Endemol Group will distribute Endgame worldwide, excluding North America.

The drama also has in its cast Torrance Coombs, Patrick Gallagher, Kate Isabelle, Carmen Aguerre and Melanie Papilia.

Production on Endgame is now underway in Vancouver.
