Netflix’s Stranger Things and HBO’s Game of Thrones continued to top the digital and overall TV demand charts for the week of Oct. 3 to 9.
The funding from Telefilm Canada’s Big Budget stream of its Production Program will go toward nine English-language feature-length films.
Macy Murdoch, produced by Toronto’s Shaftesbury, is slated for release on CBC Gem in spring 2023.
Season three of the Nelvana and Lambur Productions series is now in production and is set to premiere in 2023.
The special was filmed in tandem with its fourth season in the U.K. and Canada in June.
The series, created by Harnett, had its season one premiere on Sept. 30 to honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Production has started on the film, which is based on Niall McNeil and Marcus Youssef’s play that featured an integrated cast of actors living with and without Down syndrome.
Netflix’s Stranger Things still topped the digitals list for the week of Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.
The documentaries are being funded through several streams of Hot Docs’ CrossCurrents Doc Funds.
The coming-of-age film, which was a Talent to Watch 2020 recipient, will have its world premiere at VIFF on Oct. 5.
Pandeya will report to the company’s founder and CEO Clint Eland and will oversee its finances, business and legal, and studio operations, among others.
