Guy Maddin’s The Forbidden Room, the Canadian director’s latest homage to the silent film era, is to open the Forum sidebar at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The experimental film stars Roy Dupuis, Karine Vanasse, Caroline Dhavernas and Sophie Desmarais.

Wim Wenders’ Everything Will Be Fine, a Germany/Canada/France/Sweden/Norway coproduction shot in Montreal and coproduced by Canadian indie Montauk Productions, will have a world premiere out of competition in Berlin.

The veteran German director’s ensemble cast includes Rachel McAdams, Marie-Josée Croze and James Franco.

The Canuck contingent in Berlin also includes the Forum Expanded program screening Arvo Leo’s Fish Plane, Heart Clock, a Canada-Switzerland coproduction, and Isabelle Prim’s Calamity Qui?, a Canada/France coproduction.

The Anton Corbijn-directed Canada/Spain coproduction Life, coproduced by First Generation Films, will also have its world premiere in Berlin as part of the Berlinale Special sidebar.

And the Generation 14plus sidebar has booked Mathieu Denis’ FLQ drama Corbo, which had its world bow in Toronto.

And Mina Walking, a Canada-Afghanistan coproduction from Yosef Baraki and indie producer Baraki  Films, will debut in Berlin as part of the Generation section.

On the industry side, indie producer Galen Fletcher of Radium Squared Media will bring the $4.5 million theatrical comedy Sam and the Angel to the Talent Project Market as he seeks a U.K. coproduction partner.

The Berlin Film International Festival will run from Feb. 5 to Feb. 15.
