Helix starts back up in Montreal

Production has started in Montreal on the second season of the Syfy series Helix, which will include 13 episodes.

The series follows a team of doctors from the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) as they investigate the spread of a deadly virus. The second season of the show sees the team of doctors looking at an outbreak of a new disease on a Windjammer cruise ship, which eventually leads them to an island inhabited by a cult aiming to create a Utopian society.

American actors Matt Long (Mad MenJack and Bobby) and Steven Weber (WingsMurder in the First) have joined the cast of Helix for the second season. Returning cast members include Billy Campbell, Kyra Sagorsky and Canadians Jordan Hayes, Neil Napier, Meegwun Fairbrother and Luciana Carro.

Helix is executive produced by Lynda Obst, Ronald D. Moore and Steven Maeda, who also serves as showrunner. The producers on the series are L.A.’s Tall Ship Productions, Kaji Productions and Lynda Obst Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television. Montreal’s Muse Entertainment will provide production services.
