Bell Media’s The Movie Network has unveiled its latest slate of 14 comedy and drama series in development, including a drama from ICF Films and Saving Hope and Rookie Blue writer Sherry White, and a comedy series written by Kevin Smith and Aaron Martin.

Smith and Martin (Saving Hope, Being Erica) will serve as the writers on Prons, a comedy that follows the story as a porn star who goes back to his childhood home of Brantford, ON in an effort to escape the industry. Halfire Entertainment is attached to the project, and it will be co-developed in partnership with Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central.

In Feral, a child protection worker avoids the problems in her own life by throwing herself into her work. The drama will be produced by ICF Films, with White serving as writer and Semi Chellas (Mad Men) on board as story editor. The project is also being co-developed in partnership with Movie Central.

Other drama series being developed by The Movie Network include Beowulf: Blood of Kings, to be produced by Omni Film Entertainment and written by Matt Greenberg, and Gucci Wars, which will tell the story of the rise and fall of the House of Gucci. Bauman Entertainment will produce House of Gucci, with Angus Fraser to serve as writer. This project will be developed in partnership with Movie Central.  The genre drama Incarnate, from Copperheart Entertainment and writers/executive producers Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, is also being developed by The Movie Network, in partnership with Movie Central.

The Movie Network is also developing the dramas The Siege, a fantasy/genre series from Prospero Media and writers Chris Lavis, Maciak Szczerbowski and Andrew Wreggitt; The Tenderness of Wolves from Adlib Films, Origin Pictures and writer John Brownlow; Thunderhouse Falls from Serendipity Point Films and writer Joseph Boyden; Uncommon Youth, to be produced by Sea to Sky Studios in association with Epic, with Stephen Tolkin (Brothers & Sisters) serving as writer; Iron Belly, from Darius Films and writers Jeremy Boxen and Jonathan Sobol and Opium, from Reunion Pictures and writer Nick Wiling. The Tenderness of Wolves and Opium are being co-developed in partnership with Movie Central, while Iron Belly is being co-developed in partnership with BBC America.

Except for Prons, the names of three other comedy projects under development with The Movie Network were announced back in November: Divorce Party, from New Metric Media and writers Jessie Gabe and Linsey Stewart, Letterkenny, also from New Metric Media and writers Jared Keeso and Jacob Tierney and Method, from ICF Films and writers Peter Wellington and Peter Mooney.
