The CTV drama Motive has started shooting its second season in Vancouver.
The Foundation Features and Lark Productions cop series that also airs on ABC has added Warren Christie (Alphas) and Valerie Tian (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) to the cast.
Christie is playing a confident new detective who joins the homicide department as team commander, while Tian becomes a rookie officer.
They join a returning cast that includes lead Kristin Lehman as detective Angie Flynn, Brendan Penny as detective Brian Lucas, Louis Ferreira as detective Oscar Vega, and Lauren Holly as Dr. Betty Rogers.
The second season renewal followed Motive ending its first season on CTV with an average 1.1 million viewers, and last week reaching a season finale on ABC.
Another 13 episodes of Motive will be produced in Vancouver through January 2014, with James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton as showrunners.
“Motive emerged as a fan favourite last season and the producers have definitely intensified the pace for season two,” said Corrie Coe, SVP of independent production at Bell Media in a statement Wednesday.
Executive producers on the series are series creator Daniel Cerone, Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam, James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton.
The series is distributed internationally by NBC Universal International.
