Los Angeles- and Vancouver-based prodco Fireworks Media Group has hired veteran executive producer Trevor Hodgson to oversee all business operations as the company’s new chief operating officer.
In his new role, Hodgson (pictured) will advise on the company’s creative content, while spearheading new business ventures. He will be based in Vancouver, and will report directly to Fireworks Media founder and CEO Jesse Fawcett.
Hodgson has produced more than 40 TV series, documentaries and web series, and provided counsel for a large variety of productions. Prior to joining Fireworks Media, he was president of First Look Media, a Canadian consulting firm he founded early in his career, which offers full-scale counsel in TV and film development, production and business affairs.
He steered the company for 25 years while also serving as VP of business affairs at Force Four Entertainment, part of Entertainment One (eOne), for two years, advising on series like Border Security (Corus), First Dates (Corus) and Keeping Canada Safe (CBC), and serving as a producer on the true-crime series The Suspect (CBC/Netflix).
Before that, Hodgson spent nearly 14 years at Paperny Entertainment, which eventually evolved into eOne. During his tenure, he produced a range of titles including Eat St. (Food Network), Yukon Gold (History) Timber Kings (HGTV), Cold Water Cowboys (Discovery/Netflix), Chopped Canada (Food Network), First Comes Love (Logo) and The Stagers (HGTV).
“Trevor’s significant and diversified experience across both the creative and business sides makes him an ideal fit as we look to streamline our operations and increase our presence in the television and film landscape,” Fawcett said in a news release.
Hodgson added: “The passion and experience of [Fireworks’] talented team is reflected in all their productions. I’m also extremely excited to help shape the company’s new business ventures, which will aim to provide solutions to a variety of long-standing industry needs.”
Fireworks Media Group’s current projects include the third season of Big Timber on History Canada and Netflix, and the upcoming Pamela’s Garden of Eden, featuring Pamela Anderson, on HGTV Canada and Hulu.
