CTV, Crave and Reel World Management are teaming up for production on Sullivan’s Crossing, a 10-part drama series based on the book series of the same name by prolific American author Robyn Carr.
The broadcaster confirmed the hour-long series will air and stream in English and French. Additional broadcast, production and casting details are expected to be released in the coming months.
L.A.- and Canada-based Reel World previously partnered with Carr on another one of her best-selling book series, Virgin River. The Netflix series, which is rumoured to be renewed for a fourth season, films in B.C.
Reel World president Roma Roth and COO Christopher E. Perry will executive produce Sullivan’s Crossing, with Roth serving as showrunner. The company will also distribute the series internationally.
Sullivan’s Crossing revolves around lead character Maggie Sullivan, whose world is turned upside down after her husband is indicted for fraud. Caught in a media frenzy, she returns home to Sullivan’s Crossing, a mountainous town where her estranged father runs an outpost for hikers, bikers and climbers.
Sullivan’s Crossing is the latest title in Crave’s ongoing original production slate. Earlier this year Bell Media’s VP, content development and programming, Justin Stockman, revealed to Playback the programming team has a renewed focus on original content, announcing six new scripted and unscripted titles at the annual Upfronts in June as part of 75 new and original productions.
The series also marks Crave’s continued foray into original dramas, something the streamer previously shied away from before announcing the upcoming multi-generational story Little Bird, about the Sixties Scoop.
“We’ve been shy to do a drama for Crave, knowing that we’re getting all these HBO and Showtime programs, which obviously have very high production costs,” Stockman previously revealed. “The minute that everyone read the script, we knew we had to do it.”
