Blue Ant International
Blue Ant Media’s global distribution arm has picked up the international rights to unscripted Canadian series Search and Rescue: North Shore. The 5 x 60-minute series is produced by Vancouver prodco Peg Leg Films in association with B.C. pubcaster Knowledge Network. It offers a glimpse into the work of a volunteer rescue squad along the rugged terrain of North America’s Northwest Coast. Blue Ant International will handle international licensing for the series, which first premiered on Knowledge Network on Nov. 10, 2020; the distributor sold more than 300 hours of content at the start of 2021.
LevelFILM takes Canadian rights to Sesame Street doc
Following its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, levelFILM has acquired Canadian rights to the documentary Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street during the European Film Market. The film takes audiences inside the minds of Sesame Street creators, artists, writers and educators who together established the influential TV program.
Directed by Marilyn Agrelo (An Invisible Sign, Mad Hot Ballroom), the film was inspired by Michael Davis’ New York Times bestselling book chronicling the rise of Sesame Street. The deal was negotiated by Hudakoc and John Bain, head of distribution at levelFILM, and Mike Messina, EVP of distribution for Screen Media.
Gusto Worldwide Media
U.S.-based KlowdTV, an ad-supported television platform and streaming service, has inked a distribution deal with Canadian food brand, Gusto. Through the deal, Gusto’s OTT channel offering Gusto TV will be available to KlowdTV’s quarter of a million active users in the United States. The deal includes Gusto titles such as DNA Dinners, One World Kitchen and Cook Like a Chef.
