Schitt’s Creek Emmy win fuels international selling spree

The series is now available in 197 territories as distributor ITV Studios credits its record-breaking Emmy wins for buoyed global interest.

International interest for Schitt’s Creek has hit a fever pitch following its Emmy success as distributor ITV Studios has unveiled a raft of new deals for the CBC comedy.

All six seasons have now been sold to France (CANAL+ Group), the U.K. (E4), Spain (Antenna 3), Portugal (NOS), Greece (Cosmote), Belgium (VRT) and Israel (HOT). The series is now available in 197 territories around the globe.

Schitt’s Creek broke Television Academy records this September when it swept all the major Comedy categories, including all four acting awards and Outstanding Comedy Series. Co-creator, executive producer and showrunner Dan Levy won multiple statues for his work writing, directing and starring in the series. The series, which premiered on CBC in 2015, gained wide acclaim in the U.S. after its acquisition by Netflix.

Schitt’s Creek was produced by Dan and Eugene Levy under their  banner Not a Real Company Productions in association with CBC and U.S. broadcaster Pop TV. Additional executive producers were Andrew Barnsley, Fred Levy, David West Read and Ben Feigin.
