CBC’s winter 2021 slate is coming into view as another series rolls into production in Toronto.
Workin’ Moms, produced by Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment, launched principal photography this week on its 10 x 30-minute fifth season.
The International Emmy-nominated series is created by star and showrunner Catherine Reitman. She executive produces the comedy with Wolf + Rabbit co-founder Philip Sternberg – who also stars in the series – and Jonathan A. Walker. Karyn Nolan and Lisa Benedetto are associate producers.
New to Workin’ Moms this season is Enuka Okuma (Caught, Rookie Blue), who joins returning cast members Reitman, Sternberg, Dani Kind, Juno Rinaldi, Jessalyn Wanlim, Ryan Belleville, Olunike Adeliyi, Sarah McVie, Katherine Barrell, Sadie Munroe, Alex Mallari Jr., Mimi Kuzyk and Peter Keleghan.
Episodes in season five will be directed by Mars Horodyski (Murdoch Mysteries) and Aleysa Young (New Eden, Baroness Von Sketch Show). Joining Reitman in the writer’s room are co-executive producer Jessie Gabe (Frankie Drake Mysteries), supervising producer Karen Moore (Mary Kills People), Daniel Gold and Linsey Stewart (Mr. D).
Workin’ Moms joins a number of CBC series to head into production in September ahead of the 2021 winter premiere season, including TallBoyz, Lady Dicks, Coroner and Kim’s Convenience.
The series has been previously nominated by the International Emmys for Best Comedy Series in 2018 and 2019, and has picked up a raft of Canadian Screen nominations since 2018, including multiple nods for Reitman for acting and directing.
