Island of Bryan is bringing the beach to American audiences next month.
The first season of the hit series, produced by Si Entertainment in association with HGTV Canada, will land on its U.S. equivalent, HGTV, on June 7 with the new title Renovation Island. It marks the first Corus Studios sale of a Bryan Baeumler series to the network.
This is also the series’ first sale in the U.S. It has been previously sold to Australia’s Foxtel, Israel’s Talit Communications and TVA’s Group Channel CASA for French Canada. The deal was brokered by Rita Carbone Fleury, who oversees global sales of Corus Entertainment’s original content.
Season two of Island of Bryan premiered on HGTV Canada on Feb. 23 and has since surpassed the success of the first season. The season two finale brought in an average audience of more than one million. Island of Bryan is the network’s most-watched series in 10 years, according to Corus. It follows Baeumler and his family as they delve into the waters of beachfront resort renovations in the Bahamas. It was nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Lifestyle Program or Series.
“Corus Studios focuses its strategy on developing engaging content with compelling storytelling and loveable characters,” said Lisa Godfrey, VP of original content at Corus, in a statement. “We are thrilled to see Corus Studios content expand to the U.S. market and look forward to seeing this record-breaking series build momentum across North America.”
