Quebec’s Attraction Media is bringing factual prodco CMJ Productions II under its banner three years after its initial acquisition.
The rebrand comes at a time when Attraction is focused on growing its English-language TV footprint in North America, with the company currently working on several new commissions that will launch later this year.
Attraction has brought its English-language content under one roof in Toronto in an effort to support its growth plan – combining CMJ with Attraction’s advertising production group and roster of commercial directors. Working together, the teams will develop long-form content aimed at both broadcast and branded clients.
“CMJ has been a leading crime producer for more than a decade, and as they continue to broaden their slate and build on their successes, it was time to recognize that evolution by unifying under a common brand,” Attraction president and founder Richard Speer (pictured) said in a statement.
With this change, CMJ head of content and business development Nicole Hamilton’s role has expanded to include overseeing long-form factual content across Attraction’s English-language brands. Additionally, Joey Case, who joined CMJ’s Toronto office as senior creative director, development last year, has been promoted to head of development and executive producer.
In his new role, Case will lead development strategy across all channels and vehicles. Both executives will report to former CMJ president Judith Beauchemin, who now serves as VP of English Content. Beauchemin is based in Montreal.
A spokesperson confirmed to Playback Daily that no other executives have been impacted by these changes.
