Production has wrapped in Northern Ontario on Sixth Avenue Productions’ and Filmshow’s dramatic feature Natalie.

Written by Bonnie Fairweather (Heartland) and Kathleen Hepburn (Never Steady, Never Still), the feature follows Natalie “Honey Bee” Sorensen (played by TIFF 2014 Rising Star winner Julia Sarah Stone), an underage prostitute who enters foster care in a remote Northern Ontario community. Documentary filmmaker Rama Rau (League of Exotique Dancers) directs the drama.

Shot in North Bay, ON, the feature is produced under Sally Karam’s Sixth Avenue Productions banner with Damon D’Oliveira’s Filmshow. Karam (What We Have) is a producer on the project, while D’Oliveira (The Book of Negroes) serves as an exec producer.

Natalie also stars Martha Plimpton (The Good Wife), Peter Outerbridge (The Expanse), Steven Love (Bellevue), Connor Price (X Company), Michelle McLoed (Don’t Talk to Irene) and Sofia Banzhaf (Closet Monster).

In January 2018, Natalie was one of two projects selected to receive funding from CBC’s Breaking Barriers Film Fund. CBC holds the Canadian TV rights to the film. Sixth Avenue Productions is handling all international rights.

The feature was made in association with CBC’s Breaking Barriers Film Fund, the Northern Ontario Heritage Corporation, Ontario Media Development Corporation, Telefilm Canada and the Harold Greenberg Fund.
