Cineflix Media adds new VP development

Former Frantic Films exec Bernard Periatambee joins the company's Toronto office.

bernard periamtambeeCineflix Media has hired a former Frantic Films exec as its new VP of development.

Based in Toronto, Bernard Periatambee will oversee the development of original unscripted content for the North American market. He begins his new role on Jan. 15 and will report to Dave Hamilton, EVP, development at Cineflix Productions.

Periatambee previously served as VP of factual development at Winnipeg-based Frantic. Prior to that, he held development roles at London, U.K.-based Crackit Productions and Twofour Broadcast. His credits include Frantic’s Still Standing and Buy It, Fix It, Sell It, as well as BBC’s Cash in the Attic. 

Cineflix Media has put a significant focus on development as of late. In November, the Montreal-based producer/distributor launched Connect3 Productions, a subsidiary dedicated to facilitating coproduction opportunities. Its president, Pablo Salzman, told Playback Daily at the time that Connect3 will allow Cineflix to board projects early and help shape them for international buyers’ needs. In October, the  company also launched the International Development Initiative for Quebec Content to support the adaptation of French-language scripted series for the English-speaking global market.

Cineflix Media recently partnered with London, U.K.-based prodco Talesmith to produce the one-hour doc Rediscovering T-Rex for the BBC, CBC and France Télévisions.

Dave Snyder, who joined Cineflix Media in 2015 as VP of development out of its New York office, left the company in November 2017, according to his LinkedIn.
