Boat Rocker Media’s distribution and licensing division, Boat Rocker Rights, has signed a multi-project codevelopment and distribution pact with Miami-based Spanish-language entertainment co Cisneros Media Distribution (CMD).
The deal will see Boat Rocker and Mobius.Lab Productions, a content creation arm of CMD, co-develop 10 series (13 episodes each) on topics such as the paranormal, crime and history, nature and wildlife, and science and technology.
Mobius.Lab has a deal with Getty Images Latin America, giving the producer access to more than 80 million images and audiovisual materials. Produced solely by Mobius.Lab out of its Miami studio, the clip-based programming will be made from this library of Getty Images content. All the programming produced through the partnership will be comprised of stock footage and clips, which will be narrated to fit the theme of the episode.
The shows will be made in English and dubbed in Spanish, with Boat Rocker Rights handling distribution in English-speaking markets and Mobius.Lab taking the Latin American Spanish-language rights to the shows.
All 10 of the series are currently in development, with production on three of the programs tentatively scheduled to begin ahead of May.
Also under the agreement, Boat Rocker will handle the distribution of existing titles from Mobius.Lab’s catalogue, including The Rise of Terrorism, Super Genius, XRC: Extreme Reality Clips, and Flame of Passion.
The deal was signed by Marcello Coltro, EVP of content distribution for CMD and Jon Rutherford, president of Boat Rocker Rights. The acquisition takes the total size of Boat Rocker Rights’ library to approximately 1,400 hours, said Rutherford, with the company’s distribution division set to announce further strategic alliances and acquisitions over the coming months.
Among the other titles on Boat Rocker’s distribution slate are Xploration Station, Lost & Found Music Studios, and Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate. The company also last summer acquired Peace Point Rights, which was a division of Peace Point Entertainment Group. The acquisition saw Boat Rocker Rights pick up approximately 600 hours of content, including Bake With Anna Olson, Food Truck Face Off and Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure.
