ambiAMBI has announced a financing and production partnership with Dubai-based animation and VFX house Barajoun Entertainment.

The multi-year deal will see the companies collaborate on five family animated features, each in the $50 million range, which will be developed and produced through AMBI’s AIC Studios in Toronto and Barajoun’s Dubai studios.

All films produced through the partnership will be distributed through AMBI Group’s sales arm AMBI distribution, which will also handle global sales of Barajoun’s recently finished animation Bilal. The film is currently being shopped at the European Film Market in Berlin.

AMBI had a busy end to 2015, announcing a remake of Christopher Nolan’s Memento, acquiring a majority stake in Exclusive Media Group’s film library, as well as launching a $200 million film fund in partnership with New York private equity firm Raven Capital Management.

AMBI is currently in pre-production on Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad featuring Alec Baldwin, John Cleese and James Franco, and Groove Tails starring Jamie Foxx in the lead voice role.
