marblemedia’s Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg

Marblemedia has announced two scripted new projects in development – a thriller entitled Alchemy and a book option for author Edeet Ravel’s Held – ahead of MIPCOM next week.

The Toronto-based co will take both projects to Cannes, along with Thank You, Ashley Madison, a series written by Jennifer Kennedy (Justified) and Ian MacDonald (Punched Up), with executive producer services being provided by U.S.-based OutEast Entertainment. (The prodco has confirmed the project is going ahead despite the recent troubles for the online dating site.)

Alchemy is a 13 x 60-minute sci-fantasy thriller from TV writer and producer Karen Walton (Orphan Black, Ginger Snaps). The series is in development currently with Shaw Media’s Showcase and is the inaugural project to emerge from marblemedia’s partnership with Cirque du Soleil Média, which will see the development of three TV projects. The show will be executive produced by Matt Hornburg, Mark Bishop and Jacques Méthé.

Marblemedia also acquired the option to Ravel’s Held, a novel about an abductee who develops feelings for her kidnapper. The book was previously a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Award.
